How much weight should you be gaining per trimester? Or monthly? My first doctors appt I weight 221 and that was when I was about 8 weeks. . I still weigh the same so I haven’t put on any weight and I am almost 4 months. What is the normal? I am overweight so I know I will not gain as much as others but I was wondering when/how much I should gain. Thanks!

We are only supposed to gain from 15 to 20 pounds.depending on your diet, your doctor can better tell you how much, but 15-20 is about right.i weigh 194 and I have for sooo long now and I hope i dont gain much haha. GOODLUCK!
depends, at 221 lbs then I would assume you are over weight unless you are really tall?!!
so an overweight person should only gain about a total of 10-15 lb.
eat healthy and do some walking to keep your weight down but don’t try to lose any.
I believe the norm is about 3-4lbs during your first trimester…then a pound a week during your second and third.

Since you’re overweight you probably don’t need to gain more than 10-15 lbs in your entire pregnancy.
It is normal not to gain any weight around 4 months along. You probably won’t begin gaining weight until you are 5 or 6 months along.
The bulk of your weight gain should be in your third trimester.
Since you are overweight, just continue to eat as you normally would. If you keep your weight gain to a minimum you may actually lose some weight after giving birth, your body will actually take fat away from your fat stores and use it to nourish your baby.
in your case If you were overweight for your height (a BMI of 25 to 29.9), you should gain 15 to 25 pounds. If you were obese (a BMI of 30 or higher), you should gain between 11 and 20 pounds.
in my case: pre-pregnancy weight was in the healthy range for your height (a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9), you should gain between 25 and 35 pounds, gaining 1 to 5 pounds in the first trimester and about 1 pound per week for the rest of your pregnancy for the optimal growth of your baby. I have gained 17 pounds in almost 27 weeks and to be honest I think it’s a little too much.
take care of yourself =)
It really depends on you – your body type, your weight before pregnancy, etc.
I lost 10-15 pounds in my first 5 months of pregnancy, and now at almost 25 weeks have only gained about 8 pounds. That is okay for me and my body. I eat a ton, my belly is growing and my baby is developing just fine.
So you really need to be asking your doctor.
When you add the weight to the placenta and the baby and the extra fluids it comes out to around 20 pounds and the majority of that is not gained until late 2nd trimester and into the 3rd. Anything over that is the myth that you are eating for 2. I am/was over weight and lost weight with all 3 pregnancies. 25 with the first, 40 with the 2nd and 30 with the last. The babies grew fine and everything that needed to develope did. I just ate healthier, had a faster metabolism, and a lot of nausea. So unless you are under weight or there is a concern that the baby isn’t developing or getting what it needs there is nothing saying you have to gain weight, especially if you have some to lose.
